Click on the instructors name to learn more about them.Weave, Cut and Sew *Deadline Passed* Instructed by: Mary Sue Fenner March 8, 2008 (Sat) - 9 am - 4 pm April 12, 2008 (Sat) - 9 am - 4 pm Class Fee: $40.00 Mary Sue Fenner guides this class through the basics of weaving, creating finished garments, and interesting ways of embellishing for truly unique garments. The morning is spent learning about different techniques such as felting, embellishing, working with a variety of fibers, dying techniques and more. The afternoon is spent working on individual projects with Mary Sue's guidance. Classes are scheduled 2-3 months in advance and are based on the classes needs. Neonatal Clinic *Deadline Passed* Instructed by: Randy Larson, DVM March 22, 2008 (Sat) - 8:30 am - 4 pm Class Fee: $100.00 This seminar is geared for alpaca owners and breeders interested in gaining knowledge regarding the reproduction, birth and care of the newborn. The intention is not to train technical experts, but to learn and understand basic care. A successful attendee should be able to perform the day-to-day procedures, and recognize when outside help is needed. Spring on the Farm - Alpaca Shearing Day Instructed by: Keith Bancroft/LeAnna Franklin May 17, 2008 (Sat) - 8 am - 4 pm Class Fee: $0.00 Alpaca shearing, educational displays and presentations and demonstrations will highlight the day at the Heritage Farm (5 miles south of Kewaunee, WI on Hwy. 42). We will be shearing alpacas all day, demonstrating how we prepare an alpaca for shearing, shearing the fiber off and separating it for further use, toenail trimming and teeth upkeep. There will also be spinning, weaving and felting demonstrations and the opportunity to try these out for yourself. There will also be sheep shearing going on throughout the day. This event is part of the Old Ironsides Day sponsored by the Agricultural Heritage and Resources of Kewaunee. NEWAlpaca Basics Clinic Instructed by: Keith Bancroft/LeAnna Franklin & Kevin Stoer/Wade Gease June 28, 2008 (Sat) - 8 am - 6 pm Class Fee: $100.00 Learn first hand about the wonderful world of raising alpacas for fun and profit. This clinic will take you to two private alpaca farms representing nearly 120 alpacas. Get advice and have questions answered by an AOBA Certified Alpaca Judge and the successful owners and breeders of these two farms. Experience first hand what it is like to interact with these gentle and captivating animals. You will learn about basic alpaca health, tax advantages, farm set ups, husbandry and why their fiber is so special! Meals and handouts are included. Car pooling is available between farms. Space is limited and can only be offered on a first come basis. |
